JUBA — South Sudan rebel leader General Stephen Buay Rolnyang has warned cargo plane operators against being hired by the government to transport military supplies to Unity State where he said there are ongoing operations.

Earlier this morning, fighting erupted at a remote village in Mayom County of Unity state after a government army convoy of eight vehicles came under attack from armed men authorities in Mayom said could not be identified.

Gen. Buay, who is the leader of South Sudan People’s Movement/Army, when contacted by Sudans Post claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed the vehicles were dispatched from the capital Juba to transport arms to Mayom town ahead of an alleged government military operation against his forces.

“Yes the fighting is going on and our forces have captured and destroyed the whole convoy. The convoy was sent from Juba to Mayom with military equipment to fight the SSPM/A,” Buay told Sudans Post earlier.

In a statement moments ago, Buay warned commercial plane operators against allowing government to use their services to transport arms supplies and reinforcements to Unity State, warning that such activities may put their lives at risk.

“The SSPM/SSPA is hereby warning all the commercial flights not to be hired by the pro-regime militias to transport military equipment from Juba to unity state HQ and Mayom area where there are ongoing operations,” he said.

“Any commercial flight carrying military equipment and other military personnel to Western Upper Nile shall be shut down,” he vowed.

“Let the regime use its military planes which are our military prime targets.”
