JUBA – Juba City Council’s deputy mayor for infrastructure Thiik Thiik Mayardit has slammed social media activists who are demanding return of Kalisto Lado who was dismissed on Thursday by the governor of Central Equatoria state saying Kalisto was ‘not everything’ at the Juba City Council.

On Thursday, the governor of Central Equatoria state sacked the mayor of Juba city Council. While the governor did not appoint any replacement for the top Juba city official, the governor did not give reasons behind the sacking.

However, the sacking sparked social media uproar with activists urging President Salva Kiir Mayardit to remove Governor Emmanuel Adil for dismissing Kalisto whom they termed as a man of work.

But speaking to journalists in Juba this morning, deputy Juba City Mayor for infrastructure Thiik Thiik Mayardit slammed the social media user for ‘hypocrisy’ saying Kalisto was not everything when he was at the city council.

“JCC is an institution with its policies and I can be removed but the policies have to remain in place,” he said.

“No one should be lied to that former mayor Kalisto Lado was everything at JCC, we worked together to realize what you see today and we are now going to the streets to inspect as usual,” Mayardit added.

Mr. Deputy Mayor. Having policies alone is not sufficient. There has to be a driver or implementer to ensure the policies are implemented or follow through. Mr. Kaliato was that driver. He was the who undertook the level of Development Juba city has witnessed in recent months. Of all the previous Mayors, no one had achieved what Mr. Kalisto had done in just months. His love for the country and people was visibly seen through his daily activities and engagement with the people of Juba city. His removal from the mayorship of Juba city robed the citizens in the city opportunity to live in an organized and clean city.
