JUBA – South Sudan’s main armed opposition leader and teh country’s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has appointed an outspoken ally and member of the group in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state into the SPLM-IO National Liberation Council, the most important body responsible for decision-making process for the main armed opposition group.

Dut Majokdit who is also a member of the SPLM-IO’s peace delegation in Juba told Sudans Post in an exclusive interview that he welcomes his appointment into the body and said the action by the prominent opposition leader represents a great  step in the involvement of young people in the political decision making in the world’s youngest country.

“First of all I think the Chairman and Commander in Chief H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny for taking this courageous decision to confirm my nomination into the SPLM/SPLA (IO) National Liberation Council (NLC),” Majokdit said in a celebratory tune while speaking to Sudans Post.

“I regards this step because as we transition from an armed struggle into a viable political party, it is very important that the youth are involved in the decision-making process of the SPLM/SPLA (IO) because we have a peace agreement and that’s why we are working to make sure that the revitalized peace agreement is implemented in letter and spirit.

Separately, SPLM-IO member Kiir Chan Wol has been appointed by Machar as the group’s chairperson of SPLM-IO in the country’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.
