JUBA – South Sudan opposition politician and leader of the holdout SPLM-IO (Reformist) faction Gen. Duer Tut Duer has said that he is not part of what he called ‘small opposition groups’ belonging to Gen. Paul Malong, Gen. Gatwech Dual, and Gen. Buay Rolnyang.
Malong is the leader of South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) while General Simon Gatwech Dual and General Stephen Buay Rolnyang, are leaders of the SPLM-IO Kitgwang faction and South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/SSPA), respectively.
In a statement, Both Yich Yat, the SPLM-IO (Reformists) National Secretary for Political Mobilization, Public Orientation, Documentation & Press, said Gen. Duer made the announcement in a circular to all his forces on August 1st 2022.
“On August 1st 2022, the Chairman and the Supreme Chief of the SPLM/SPLA-IO H.E Duer Tut Duer Makuac released an important note to all units and the general public that, our movement has no connection with the factions of Gen. Paul Malong Gen. Chuol Gakah Gen. Buay Rolnyang and; Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, because it is a solitary revolutionary movement that, has not formed any alliance with any of the abovementioned Oppositions,” Both said in a statement extended to Sudans Post.
“The Chairman and the Supreme Chief of the SPLM/A-IO, has also made it comprehensible to all members of the SPLM-IO (the Reformists), to be on alert and wise enough to prevent those small opposition groups, from acquainting our current move of Military Orientation, Mobilization & Armament of the SPLA-IO forces in all fronts,” he added.
Both said Gen. Duer has further “urged the SPLA-IO Commanders to deal with any kind of infiltration accordingly.”
