KHARTOUM – The Ethiopian government has dispatched aid to Sudan which has been hit hard by devastating floods caused by heavy rains and that has resulted in displacement of around 125,000 people across the country.

The aid was delivered by the Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedo Andergacho and a high-level delegation who arrived on Thursday afternoon in the country.

The Ethiopian envoy was welcomed at Khartoum airport by Sudan’s acting minister of foreign affairs, Ambassador Omar Qamar El Din Ismail along with senior government officials from the foreign ministry and the humanitarian commission.

The Ethiopian Foreign Minister explained that he came to Sudan motivated by translating his previous speech into actions, and to confirm the solidarity of his country with the Sudanese government and people, explaining that his country is fully prepared to stand with Sudan.

For his part, Mr. Omar Qamar Eddin, affirmed the “strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Ethiopia for this initiative presented despite the fact that some Ethiopian regions were affected by the same conditions that Sudan is going through from torrents and floods.”

It is worth noting that the aid includes 60 tons of food and medicine.
