JUBA – A Ethiopian rebel group that is allied with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is claiming that it is advancing towards Addis Ababa from the south and west of the country, the France 24 quoting a reporter there, reports.

This is despite government advance towards the war-hit region of Tigray in the north where TPLF forces in Afar and Amhara regions have been retreating following days of fighting since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed joined front lines.

The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) now claims – without evidence – that it controls a large swathe of territory in the South and West of Ethiopia along with the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF).

Together, the TDF and OLA plan to topple the government and take over the capital.

The government accuses these rebel groups of committing crimes against civilians, including several massacres.

What? Advancing towards Addis Abeba or Mekelle?
