JUBA – South Sudan’s army commander General Stephen Buay Rolnyang who joined General Paul Malong Awan last week has left the Kenyan capital Nairobi and says he is in a location that he don’t want to disclose inside South Sudan.
Buay was a well-respected army commander who fought alongside President Salva Kiir throughout South Sudan’s civil war beginning 2013.
He was accused of defecting to opposition groups before he was arrested in mid-2018. In 2019, following a secret court hearing, he was illegally stripped of his rank and then dismissed from army service.
Last week, he declared his intention to join South Sudan United Front led by General Paul Malong Awan. Malong a day later issued a order reinstating his rank and promoting him to the rank of Lieutenant General.
Speaking to Sudans Post this evening from an unidentified location, Buay said he has left Nairobi and is in an area he didn’t name he said inside South Sudan.
“I am not in Nairobi now. I have left Kenya around a day and so ago and I am currently inside South Sudan,” Buay said from the unidentified location via satellite phone.
Asked where he is exactly located inside South Sudan, Buay replied that he “will make my location known when time come. But I want to assure you that I am inside South Sudan.”
It’ is kind of threat by the way.
