JUBA – A son of a former Northern Bahr el Ghazal state deputy governor has killed his half-brother following a fistfight over 400 South Sudanese pound the victim had lent to the culprit brother.
According to the police spokesman in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state Capt. Guot Guot Akol, Bol Dut, 17, beat his younger brother to death after his brother demanded that he return the money which is less than 1 United States Dollar.
Guot said the incident took place in Aweil town on Thursday after Yel Dut lent his brother Bol the SSP400 (less than $1) with the later refusing to return the money leading to the fist fight in which Bol killed his brother.
“Yel later died from injuries at around 1 pm at Aweil State Hospital and Bol is in police custody,” Capt. Guot told Eye Radio on Friday.
Bol and Yel are children of the former deputy governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Madut Dut Dut Yel.
