JUBA – A former South Sudan state lawmaker in the country’s Lakes state has declared his intention to join the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) under the leadership of First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

In a statement extended to Sudans Post, Madeu Angong Nek says he decided to join the main armed opposition group because it is the only party in the world’s youngest country that is creating opportunities for the young people.

“It’s a joyous moment for me to inform Your Excellency of my well-considered decision to join the people’s Party, the SPLM-10 under your able leadership,” Angong who was once the ruling SPLM secretary for Abang Payam in Lakes State said.

“My decision has primarily been influenced by the fact that the SPLM-IO under your stewardship has already proven in this country as the only Party that prides itself on the legacy of providing opportunities to the youth,” he added.

He further said that “I look forward to joining my age mates, friends and the like-minded.”
