JUBA – A former South Sudan lawmaker in the country’s Lakes state has declared his decision to join the main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, under the leadership of the country’s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny.
Isaac Makur Buoc Pac who was arrested for several months in 2015 defended, in a statement extended to Sudans Post this afternoon, his decision to join Machar, but did not made mention of why he left the SPLM-IG led by President Salva Kiir.
“Please be informed that I have fully joined the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) with effect from today Tuesday September 8″, 2020,” Makur said.
“In events of politics an adult person likes me “ISAAC MAKUR BUỘC APAC” from Rumbek East County, Lakes State is entitled to take his decision as mentioned above,” he said in the declaration letter which he also addressed to friends and family.
Makur’s defection to the Machar-led movement would be of significance important to the main armed opposition group which only has a group of a handful supporters from Lakes state which has suffered inter-communal violence.
