Nyarji Roman’s decision comes after what was an unfolding situation in the SPLM-Io sparking waves of defections from Machar to his former military General Simon Gatwech Dual who is currently based in Magenis.
This comes a day after the SPLM-IO deputy chairman henry Odwar resigned as minister of mining in the revitalized unity government, before declaring, in a statement, his intention to support the Kitgwang faction led by former SPLA-IO chief of General Staff General Simon Gatwech Dual.
“I would like to inform the public that as today the August 12, 2021 marks my last day as a member of the Sudan people liberation Movement in the opposition SPLM IO under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar as well as a member of the National Liberation Council after completing my duties towards my country and my people,” Nyarji said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“With this I would like to announce my return to the ranks of my colleagues in the government under the leadership of H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit,” he added.
Nyarji further said that he was adding his support to the leadership of Kitgwang faction and was ready to support the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement signed by Machar and President Salva Kiir in 2018.
“I am Adding my support and voice as a member of National Liberation council and as a representative of my people of Rokon, Dolo and Koda To The bold decision made by the Deputy Chairman and Commander in Chief H.E Henry Adower for his full support and recognition of our New Interim Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLM-IO General Simon Gatwech,” he said.
“The full commitment to the peace agreement and the security arrangements, With this bold decision from the Deputy Chairman and senior members of the SPLM-IO I believe that the implementation of the peace agreement will inter to new Era of prosperity with full political will and commitment,” he further added.

Defections and counter defections are not what the South Sudanese people are really after. South Sudanese people are sick of all these cheap political gimmicks. Defect to any faction of your choice, SPLM-IG, SPLM-IO and all, and haul your arses back to South Sudan’s capital, Juba to come and tell South Sudanese people as to what is that, you have, which the South Sudanese people don’t already know?!.

But his handlers from the US, the UK, the UN, UNMISS, the NGOs, their lackeys here in the IGAD and the African Union (the AU) told Mr. Riek Machar that they are not support him with his resistant movement nonsense, but to quickly run to Adis Ababa and go and negotiate with Mr. Salva Kiir and his allies.
