Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth weds ex-wife of de facto SPLM-IO leader

JUBA – South Sudan’s former minister of petroleum, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, who had also served before joining President Kiir in July 2016 as chairperson of the SPLM-IO foreign relations committee has wedded Martha Nyanuer, an ex-wife of holdout opposition leader Duer Tut Duer.

Gatkuoth who was once ridiculed for stating in a BBC interview that South Sudan ‘economy is booming’ in the midst of government failure to pay civil servant made the wedding at Freedom Hall in the capital Juba.

The day-long function was attended by senior government officials including former lawmakers and governors of the defunct 32 states serving as best men.

Gatkuoth who was accused in 2019 of having an affair with someone’s wife was married to Rachel Nyehok who died in 2016. He also has kids with popular South Sudanese musician Nyapal Lul Yuel who is now dating a South Sudanese-Australian.

According to the local news website Talks of Juba, Nyanuer who is better known as Dr. Martha Martin Dar, had lost around $2 million at a gambling casino game in the Kenyan capital Nairobi around unknown date.
