JUBA – A female South Sudan journalist working for Dulku media in has been awarded by the Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) for showing dedication to her work for covering Jonglei floods, the ADMISS said in a statement.

Jennifer Nyling James attracted attention and solidarity on social media late this week after appearing using a camera inside the water to cover floods in the country’s Jonglei state.

In a statement on Friday, the ADMISS said that the organization has handed over a smart phone to the female journalist for showing passion and dedication in covering floods in Jonglei’s Bor town.

“AMDISS/MDI is happy to present this token of appreciation in form of a smart phone to Ms. Jennifer Nyling James for putting in practice the knowledge and skills she acquired through her training at the Media Development Institute to report on humanitarian crises in Bor, South Sudan with passion and dedication,” the ADMISS said in a statement seen by Sudans Post on Friday.

“We believe that the skills given to Ms. Jennifer is the biggest gift to her with which she can improve the lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged people through her reporting. This token of appreciation is only meant to encourage and aid her efforts to do more,” the statement further added.
