Fighting resumes as RSF makes another attempt to take over El Fasher

The clashes reignited just two days after the SAF, bolstered by former Darfur rebel groups such as the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) faction led by Minni Arko Minnawi and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) led by Jibril Ibrahim, repelled a major RSF attack.

EL FASHER – Heavy fighting resumed on Tuesday morning between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and allied former rebel groups against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, according to local sources.

“The fighting began at around 7:00 a.m. this morning and continued until 11:00 a.m. The clashes have stopped, but there is currently bombing from the southwestern side of the city by the RSF,” an eyewitness reported.

The same source said the SAF launched airstrikes targeting RSF positions in the Melit locality, north of El Fasher.
