Residents said the attack was carried out by suspected raiders from the Luany-Jang community in retaliation for an earlier assault by youth from the Akook community.
Ngap-Agok Payam Administrator Daniel Machar said the incident was a revenge raid after Luany-Jang was previously attacked by Akook youth.
“Three people were wounded from the attackers’ side and two from the defending group. A large number of cattle and goats were also taken,” Machar told Sudans Post on Thursday.
He said the violence was triggered by the killing of two motorcycle riders last week, allegedly by Akook youth, sparking the retaliatory attack on Akook village in Ngap-Agok Payam, Tonj East County.
The latest incident is part of a cycle of revenge attacks and communal violence that has persisted in the region.
