Furry as Twic county national lawmakers allegedly ridiculed in Aneet

A Twic Mayardit intellectual and youth group is calling for the withdrawal of members of the transitional parliament in Juba from Twic County from the Aneet incident investigation committee after the lawmakers were allegedly insulted and ridiculed by youth from Abyei in Aneet in presence of Abyei Chief Administrator.

JUBA – A Twic Mayardit intellectual and youth group is calling for the withdrawal of members of the transitional parliament in Juba from Twic County from the Aneet incident investigation committee after the lawmakers were allegedly insulted and ridiculed by youth from Abyei in Aneet in presence of Abyei Chief Administrator.

Last week, a team of investigation led by VP Hussein Abdelbaggi visited Aneet where fighting between armed youth from Dinka Twic and Dinka Ngok resulted in the killing of a number of people and the burning down of the Aneet market resulting in the loss of millions of pounds.

The committee comprising members of parliament in the reconstitution transitional national legislative assembly from Abyei and Twic arrived in Aneet, but youth groups allegedly raised up banners suck as ‘killers’ to members of the committee from Twic Mayardit county in presence of VP Hussein and Abyei chief administrator Kuol Deim Kuol.

In a statement, Twic Mayardit intellectuals and youth body protested the treatment of lawmakers and called for withdrawal of Twic lawmakers from the committee over the alleged treatment.

“Following the humiliation of our MPs in the Investigation committee on 23rd March 2022 in Agok/Annet settlement Camp on your way to Abyei, we Twic Mayardit Youth intellectuals and executive chiefs would like to request your legitimate authority to release Hon. Nyadeng Malek Dielie and Hon. Charles Majak Aler from the investigation processes in Abyei Area,” the statement said.

The statement said the group “felt bad as citizens and community that our honorable National MPs in investigation committee are not safe” and that the government in Abyei “neither condemns nor commented on the embarrassment done by Abyei citizens to Twic MPs. It was indicated when the Ngok youth portrayed the banners and made hate speeches against our MPs in the presence of Chief Administrator Hon. Kuol Diem Kuol.”

The group further said the actions indicate that “Abyei Special Administrative government and Dinka Ngok citizens are not yet for peace since they continue to massacred people (e.g. Makuei Wol Marial and Mayen Achuol Dhel).

“The two men were murdered in Aneet last night after the convoy of Investigation committee left area for Abyei Town. These two men were Not from Twic County but are within Bahr El Ghazel region.

“We will never act negatively to Ngok Citizens and their officials in Twic County. For example, we did not insult any ONE of their MPs when they were here in Twic County.”
