JUBA – The military spokesman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) Kitgwang faction led by former SPLA-IO chief of general staff General Simon Gatwech Dual has denied social media speculations that he has traveled to South Sudan’s capital Juba to meet government officials.
SPLM-IO supporters on Tuesday circulated speculations widely on social media that Gen. Gatjiath who is widely suspected as the mastermind of the disagreement between General Simon Gatwech Dual and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has traveled to the South Sudan’s capital to meet government officials loyal to Kiir.
However, speaking to Sudans Post this morning, the senior opposition military office dismissed the speculations and accused unnamed ‘evil wishers’ of standing behind the speculation saying he has nothing to attend to in Juba saying any future meetings between government officials and their group will not take place in South Sudan.
“Well these are evil wishers, I mean the people who are circulating those fake news that I have gone to Juba. Now I am speaking to you in a Sudanese phone number if I go to Juba, I cannot talk to you from +249 country code which is for Sudan. But because they are just evil wishers who wish us bad, they make that propaganda and false news,” Gatjiath said.
“Any meeting between the SPLM/SPLA-IO under the overall leadership of H.E 1st Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual and the regime of Salva Kiir and Riek Machar in Juba will not take place in South Sudan. Actually we have given them until the 15 of September where they will decide if they will accept peace or not,” General Gatjiath added.
