JUBA — South Sudan opposition group and breakaway faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Kitgwang faction led by Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual has urged for investigation of First Vice President Machar over the escalating violence across the country.
This comes after reports of fighting emerged from Upper Nile and Unity state in clashes that reportedly fitted Machar’s soldiers and those loyal to Gen. Simon Gatwech, the former SPLA-IO military chief.
In a statement, Kalany Mamuon, the press secretary for General Gatwech said Machar should be investigated for the recent violence in which armed youth from Twic Mayardit attacked Aneet Market in Abyei.
“The office of FVP need to be investigated about the current skirmish in Aneet, they recently directed the fighting in Koch County and Nasir respectively,” Kalany said.
“If their intention was to cause the insecurity all over South Sudan so that the election is postponed, then they will fail,” he said.
He said “The era, of lobbying for positions is now come to an end, They must go to their constituencies and brought by people through ballots but not violence.”
