JUBA – South Sudan’s former spy chief, General Akol Koor Kuc has reportedly been arrested and transported to Bilpam, the headquarters of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), following clashes with security forces.
A military source involved in the operation told Sudans Post that Akol was detained after intense fighting that reportedly left dozens of his soldiers killed or injured.
Sudans Post was unable to independently verify Akol’s successful arrest, as other sources claims that Akol’s whereabouts were unknown when hostilities broke out at his residence.
The source declined to comment on claims that Akol himself sustained injuries, or even killed, during the confrontation.
Eyewitnesses reported that gunfire in the area had subsided by late morning. A traffic jam formed around the Seventh-Day Roundabout near Akol’s residence as panicked drivers abandoned their vehicles in the wake of the violence.
