JUBA – South Sudan opposition leader and head of the South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A), Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang, has issued an order dismissing the commander of SSPA in Abyei after the later allegedly uttered hate speech over this year’s violence between Twic and Ngok Dinka.

In February, violence broke out between the Ngok Dinka and their Twic counterparts at Aneet market in Abyei disputed area after local officials of Abyei decided to carry out survey in Aneet market angering some residents.

In reaction, General Loi Dau Loi, the SSPM/SSPA Commander for Abyei disputed area accused authorities in Kuajok and Juba of standing with the Twic people against the people of Abyei sparking social media criticisms.

In response, General Stephen Buay Rolnyang issued an order dismissing General Loi from South Sudan People’s Movement saying the latter is preaching tribalism which General Buay said is not condoned in the opposition movement.

“Lt. General Loi Dau Loi, the former Commander of Abyei Defence force is hereby dismissed from the SSPM/A for preaching hatred and tribalism within the SSPM/A,” General Buay said in the order a copy of which was extended to Sudans Post.

“The tribal conflict between Abyei and Twic should not be brought to the file and rank of the SSPM/A,” he added.
