General Bapiny Manytuil leaves Juba for Mayom ahead of commencement of Bul peace conference

South Sudan opposition leader and highly respected member of Mayom County of South Sudan's Unity State General Bapiny Manytuil Wijang has left the capital Juba heading to Mankien in Mayom days before the commencement of the Bul Peace Conference, according to an opposition spokesman allied to him.

JUBA – South Sudan opposition leader and highly respected member of Mayom County of South Sudan’s Unity State General Bapiny Manytuil Wijang has left the capital Juba heading to Mankien in Mayom days before the commencement of the Bul Peace Conference, according to an opposition spokesman allied to him.

This month, senior members of the Bul community are expected to meet at Mankien for a peace initiative that aims to bind wounds saw among prominent members of the community in the country’s politics and that have resulted in intercommunal disagreements and fighting back home in Unity state.

General Bapiny is the leader of South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SSLM/A) and the security chief of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by minister of agriculture and food security Josephine Lagu. He is the Chairman of the Bul Initiative for Peace and Reconciliation.

In a statement extended to Sudans Post, Brigadier General Samuel Chan Mut Turoah, the spokesman of the South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army, said Manytuil left Juba on Wednesday morning for Mankien Payam of Mayom County to conduct tour ahead of the commencement of the conference which he said is being organized in days.

“Lt. Gen. Bapiny Manytuil Wejang, the chairman of South Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SSLM/A) and SSOA Security Coordinator and his accompanying delegation left to Mankien today on 16th, June for effective organisation of Bul Peace Conference that was scheduled to take place this month,” the statement reads in part.

“Gen Bapiny Manytuil and the rest of the team will be first touring the 12 Payams of Mayom County to inform them before the official launching of the conference,” the statement added.

It further said that those accompanying Manytuil include Hon. Puok Bol Mot, John Mawiclow Chilieny, Hon. Kuh Dalenge, Hon. Makuei Ruot Gang, and Hon. Shiek Abdun Gatjiek.

The statement further appealed to members of “Bul Community whether at home or in the diaspora to join hands together for this wonderful occasion.”
