JUBA – South Sudan Vice President for Economic Cluster, Dr James Wani Igga, has vowed to help in the fight against corruption in the world’s youngest nation.

Speaking during the release of the 2020 Human Development Report and Economic Policy Dialogue in Juba on Wednesday, Dr. Igga said combating corruption is a top priority of the unity government.

“When we talk of reforms, corruption is in the heart of the reform. Transparency and accountability need to be adhered to. So corruption will be in our forth-front to combat,” Igga expressed.

Dr. Igga promised to fight corruption given the challenges and blockage ahead of him.

“We must reform in order to arrive at prosperity of our country, but it is not an easy task. It is not easy; you get a lot of blockages,” he said.

The top government official stressed the need to reform South Sudan into a prosperous country.

“We will quarrel but we will progress and we must move forward because the canon in the river is not only smooth. There are waves until you reach the destination. Our destination is the final, reformed and prosperous country,” he said.
