JUBA – South Sudan’s newly appointed Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Mary Nawai Martin, has promised to work for development and services delivery to common-populace in the world’s youngest country.
Speaking during her welcoming ceremony at ministry headquarters on Monday, Nawai pledged to promote peace and unity among other development related issues in the country.
“I am willing to work with other Ministers from other Ministries and all the staff in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for development and social service delivery to our common-populace,” Nawai said on Monday.
She affirmed her office readiness to work with the council of states and Transitional National Legislative Assembly to realized strong partnership in the development of the country.
“I would like to call upon the people of South Sudan to join hands for peace and stability of this nation,” she said.
On 28 July, President Salva Kiir appointed Mary Nawai Martin as the new minister of Parliamentary Affairs after relieving Jemma Nunu Kumba following her nomination as Speaker of the Revitalized National Assembly.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs was established on 1st June 2006 and Gabriel Changson Chang became the first minister, follow by Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, Michael Makuei Lueth, Bashir Bandi and Jemma Nunu Kumba.
