JUBA – South Sudan government will give any citizen with information leading to the arrest of the killer of the Director-General of Upper Nile State Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, John Okony Yor, 5 million pounds, a top police officer said Friday.
Under unclear circumstances, the senior government official was shot dead by an unidentified gunman at his residence at Hai Jalaba in Malakal town on Tuesday evening, according to police authorities who said that the suspect is still at large.
Speaking to journalists on Friday afternoon in Malakal, Upper Nile state police commissioner Maj. Gen. Chol Atem said authorities are still looking for the criminal and that the government has decided to give at least 5 million SSP bounty for any information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
“Upper Nile State government through the Security Committee, announces to all citizens that whoever comes with information about the person who killed the Director General, or show where he is lives, will be given five million South Sudanese pounds as a reward,” Upper Nile Police Inspector Maj. Gen. Chol Atem said Friday.
The senior police officer further said that the government will accord protection to the person who will come forward with this important information.
“I can assure you that the security committee will whoever give this information with utmost personal protection”.
