JUBA – A Juba-based analyst is urging the government of South Sudan to summon Sudanese ambassador to Juba to protest killing 6 soldiers by Misseriya herders in Twic County of Warrap State.

On Monday, a group of suspected nomadic Misseriya herders from Sudan killed at least 6 soldiers and 3 others missing when they ambushed a military base in Kur in the northern part of Akoc Payam in Twic County of Warrap State.

Speaking to Sudans Post this morning, Abraham Kuol Nyuon, professor of political science at the University of Juba called on the government to summon Sudanese Ambassador to Juba to explain the reason why their people are committing crimes in the country.

“The government of South Sudan should summon the ambassador of Sudan especially through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to come and explain why their people come to South Sudan to commit crimes,” Kuol told Sudans Post.

Kuol called on both countries to form a committee to handle issues related to border insecurities.

“This is not only about violation of territorial integrity but it is an aggression by Sudan against South Sudan because the government of Sudan has not taken any measures to be able to calm the situation,” Nyuon disclosed.

“The government of South Sudan should be able to know that this is not only about civilians crossing over to South Sudan to commit crimes but this might be a coordinated kind of criminal act that involved the state from the other side that is condoning such an act,” he added.
