Gunman kills 2, injures 1 another in Bor town

Speaking to Sudans Post on Thursday, Jonglei State Police Spokesperson, Major Daniel Majak, said the incident happened on Tuesday at around 8:30 P.M in Bor town.

JUBA – At least two people have been killed and one other injured by unknown gunman in Jonglei state’s capital Bor, according to state police.

Speaking to Sudans Post on Thursday, Jonglei State Police Spokesperson, Major Daniel Majak, said the incident happened on Tuesday at around 8:30 P.M in Bor town.

“This incident happened on 19th of this month at around 8:30 pm when unknown two gunmen come to certain residential area and started shooting at people killing one person instantly and wounded row others,” Majak told Sudans Post on Thursday.

“When the police rushed to the scene of the crime, the people found one person dead and one wounded and the one which was wounded was a lady, she managed to run and fall in a nearby bush,” Majak added.

“In the morning, the police returned to the scene of the crime and made such a search and they found the dead body of that woman.”

Majak said the wounded person is now receiving treatment at Bor PHCC.

“There are two people confirmed dead and one wounded. The wounded one is still under treatment at the unit of PHCC in Bor.”

The police spokesman said the assailant remains at large but said the police are investigating the incident to find out the motives behind the attack.

“The investigation started the very night of the incident and we are very hopeful as Jonglei State that we shall find the culprits and we shall bring them to book,” he said.

He disclosed the state police have intensified day and night patrols in a bid to curb crimes.

“The mechanism the police is putting in place and the entire government of Jonglei State is that both the police and other security apparatus are to make day and night patrols and the forces should be equipped with all necessary equipment to hence the protection of civilians.”
