Gunmen shot, injure ex-deputy governor

Gunmen suspected to be Mundari bandits on Saturday shot and injured former deputy governor of defunct Eastern Lakes State, Nhial Enock Nhial, when a vehicle he was traveling in came under attack.

JUBA, MACRH 14 2023 (SUDANS POST) – Gunmen suspected to be Mundari bandits on Saturday shot and injured former deputy governor of defunct Eastern Lakes State, Nhial Enock Nhial, when a vehicle he was traveling in came under attack.

Enock Gheng Chahoch, a brother of the former deputy governor said the attack occurred near the Mobil checkpoint when his brother was on his to Juba.

“I want to bring to your attention that Hon. Nhial Enock Nhial Mangar’jhok was shot at and sustained bullet wounds on his right leg & left thigh by blood-thirsty Mundari bandits whose interests are selfish gains,” Gheng said in a statement on his Facebook page on Monday.

He said his brother underwent successful surgery on Monday.

“He underwent successful orthopedic operation/surgery this afternoon to remove the bullet and mend the fractured thigh bone,” he said.

“His condition is stable, though he is still experiencing serious pain. We give thanks to & glorify God Almighty for his mercy,” he added.
