KHARTOUM, APRIL 24, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – A high-ranking political figure of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has compared the ongoing fighting in Sudan to the actions of Hamas, which he referred to as a “terrorist organization.”
In an interview with the Israeli Kan television channel on Monday, Youssef Ezzat, the Political Advisor of the RSF, accused the Sudanese army of being used by elements from the regime of Omar al Bashir, stating that Islamists have taken advantage of the situation to launch their attacks.
The top RSF political official said that the Israeli people and government should be familiar with the situation, as they have faced similar attacks from terrorist organizations such as Hamas and others in the past.
“I can tell the Israeli people and the Israeli government that what Khartoum and the Rapid Support Forces are facing is an attack by the [Sudanese] army, which the Islamic terrorist gang took advantage of,” he said.
“What we are being exposed to, Israel has been exposed to it thousands of times from terrorist groups such as Hamas and other organizations that the Israeli people know very well,” he added.
These comments have sparked outrage among Arab countries, particularly in Palestine, where Hamas is regarded as a legitimate resistance movement by many.
Ezzat’s comments come less than two weeks after the RSF, led by General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, launched attack on several Sudanese army and government positions in the capital and other important areas to take overpower.
