RUMBEK – Authorities in Lakes State have arrested the husband of a 20-year-old woman, identified as Mrs. Mangoaw Ayar, who allegedly committed suicide in Wulu County earlier this week.

Lakes State Police spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac confirmed the incident, stating that the woman was found dead in Domuloto Payam, Wulu County.

He noted that the case was reported to the police, who immediately began an investigation.

During the investigation, police discovered injuries on the victim’s body, prompting them to arrest her husband for further questioning.

“The nature of her death is quite different from other suicide cases we usually encounter in Wulu County,” Maj. Makuac said. “At the crime scene, there was excessive bleeding, and the body had sustained multiple wounds. We need to thoroughly investigate these findings.”

Maj. Makuac also expressed concern about the lack of transportation to take the body to Rumbek State Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

“We want to establish the cause of her death to be confirmed by a doctor, but unfortunately, we don’t have the means of transportation for the post-mortem,” he added.

Reflecting on the broader issue of suicide, Maj. Makuac urged people to share their struggles with others.

“The reason for suicide is often a pain that a person is undergoing, and that pain needs to be shared with someone who might offer help,” he said.

“There is no problem without a solution. If you disclose what’s troubling you to a colleague, friend, or relative, you might find a solution. Without doing so, the risk of suicide increases,” he added.

The investigation into the woman’s death is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
