JUBA – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has replaced Activist Wani Michael as the Youth Representative to the National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) barely a year after his resignation when he had to flee the South Sudan.

Wani Michael last year resigned from the civil society organization Okay Africa and fled the country after he and four other prominent activists called for the removal of President Salva Kiir Mayardit from power through popular uprising.

In a letter addressed to the head of the National Constitutional Amendment Committee, IGAD Special Envoy Ismail Wais acknowledged the appointment of Ayuel David Abraham has replaced Wani Michael as the youth representative to the NCAC.

“I write to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 24th June 2022 informing me that Counsel Ayuel David Abraham has replaced Mr. Wani Michael as the Youth representative in the NCAC,” Wais said in the letter seen by Sudans Post.

“Please note that we have accordingly informed Mr. Gichira Kibara, the Chair of NCAC, about the replacement. I would like to seize this opportunity to thank you for your swift response,” the IGAD envoy further added.
