Speaking to reporters following the court hearing on Thursday afternoon, Nyenagwek’s lawyer, Monyluak Aguer said the court will have a normal procedure for announcing a final verdict under section 289 of the penal code.
“The Court today has directed the accusations against the accused Amira Ali Thomas under section 289, for us as the accused; we see it as a normal procedure for the court to come with the results of accusations under section 289,” Monyluak told reporters in Juba on Thursday.
Monyluak disclosed that the court will look into the position of the accused and defence first before the final verdict.
“After that, the court will look into the position of the accused and defend, the court will listen to both sides, and it is a great move for us as accused because the court has directed the accusations,” he said.
“She is bailout but now what follow are the court proceedings, after that the court will come up with its decision, these accusations can lead to two years imprisonment or even a fine,” he added.
