Kenya lauds South Sudan for creating ‘conducive business environment’ for Kenyans

JUBA – Visiting Kenyan speaker of parliament has lauded South Sudan for creating a conducive environment for its citizen to practice their business in, according to a statement by South Sudan presidency.

The statement followed a meeting between President Salva Kiir and the Speaker of the Senate of Kenya Kenneth Lusaka who arrived in South Sudan for a two-day visit this week.

“His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic, met with Rt. Hon .Kenneth Lusaka, Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Kenya and his delegation, who are in Juba to foster parliamentary diplomacy between South Sudan and Kenya, and also to assess development as part of integration process in East African Community,” the statement by the presidency said in part.

According to the statement, the top Kenyan lawmaker told Kiir Mayardit that they are in Juba “to seek ways in which Kenya can integrate and do business with South Sudan, and thanked him for creating a conducive business environment for the Kenyans to come and invest in South Sudan.”

He also said his country “can see progress in peace, security and development in South Sudan”, adding that they are very impressed with the construction of Juba – Bor road and described it as a milestone for South Sudan.
