JUBA – President Salva Kiir Mayardit announced significant appointments on Thursday, replacing three ministers and the Mayom County Commissioner in Unity State.

In a broadcast on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), President Kiir named John Gatluak Doar, the deputy speaker of parliament, as the new finance minister.

Doar steps in for Malual Tap Dhieu, who transitioned to the role of the first undersecretary at the national ministry of finance and planning last November.

Another decree saw Kiir dismissing the ministers of parliamentary affairs and youth & sports, appointing Christine Kubai and Gatluak Gatwech Pean as the new ministers for parliamentary and legal affairs, and youth and sports, respectively.

Furthermore, John Bol Mayak was relieved of his duties as the Mayom County commissioner, with Luka Chierey Riaka announced as his replacement.

All the affected and newly appointed officials belong to the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement led by President Kiir.

The President did not provide specific reasons for these changes.
