Kiir appoints new presidential envoy to replace Barnaba Marial

In a statement on Tuesday, the presidency said Albino Mathom Ayuel was sworn in at the presidential palace J1 by the Chief Justice Chaap Reec Madut following appointment by President Salva Kiir Mayardit early in the week.

JUBA — South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed a new presidential envoy to replace Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin who was appointed minister of presidential fairs in April this year.

Marial has been a presidential special envoy since 2019, the first of senior government role since his firing as minister of foreign affairs a few years ago.

In a statement on Tuesday, the presidency said Albino Mathom Ayuel was sworn in at the presidential palace J1 by the Chief Justice Chan Reec Madut following appointment by President Salva Kiir Mayardit early in the week.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this morning, presided over the swearing in ceremony of Albino Mathom Ayuel as an Ambassador and Presidential Special Envoy,” the statement seen by Sudans Post reads in part.

“The oathtaking was administered in the Office of the President by the Chief Justice Chan Reech Madut,” the statement adds.

It further said the function witnessed by the president was also attended by the presidential affairs minister Barnaba Marial, Executive Director in the Office of the President James Deng Wal, and the Press Secretary in the Office of the President Ateny Wek Ateny.
