JUBA – Representatives of National Democratic Movement (NDM), led by Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, Federal Democratic Party (FDP), led by Gabriel Changson Chang, and South Sudan Liberation Movement (SSLM) led by General Bapiny Manytuil, have asked President Salva Kiir Mayardit to intervene in the nomination process of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) representatives to states and local government officials in the Equatoria region.
Peter Lomude of the NDM, Issa Mustafa of the FDP and Paul Wani of SSLM, said in a letter to President Salva Kiir Mayardit that they have been prevented a consultative meeting for the Equatoria region by the SSOA leader, Josephine Lagu, asking the South Sudanese head of state to intervene.
“Yesterday, 25, October 2020, Leaders of SSOA met to discuss the distribution of the positions allocated to it between the constituent organizations of SSOA It was decided that the distribution be discussed on regional basis and each party was asked to nominate members to the three regional joint committees of Bahr el Ghazal, Equatoria and Upper Nile,” they said in the letter obtained by Sudans Post.
“We in the Joint committee in the Equatoria region agreed to meet today at 4:00 PM. When we came, Hon. Josephine Lagu denied us entry in to the meeting saying that our party don’t deserve to be represented in Equatoria and hence our presence in the meeting was not desirable,” they added.
“We would like to alert your Excellencies, as the principal signatories to the agreement, that whatever comes out of this meeting is a sham being the work of a clique of three organization out of eight. Please accept the assurances of our highest consideration.”
