JUBA – President Slava Kiir Mayardit has directed the ministry of youth and sports to develop plans for construction of what would be South Sudan’s first basketball arena, according to Minister Albino Bol Dhieu.
“And the important news about the meeting is that President Kiir directed the ministry of youth and sports to come up with the proposals for indoor facilities for basketball and other related games,” the youth minister said.
The senior government official said the president has directed for the construction of basketball arena because he was impressed by the achievements.
Addressing the team this week, Kiir said the team us made the country proud.
“Your victory has united the people of South Sudan and recruited many friends for us. You have started a fight to put South Sudan on the world map to be recognized,” the president said during a meeting with the team at J1.
“You made us proud and our heads are held high because of you. I will continue to work hand in hand with you to support you to get whatever you need to perform better in your field,” he added.
