JUBA – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday night dismissed the chief administrator of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA), Gola Boyoi Gola, and appointed Peter Zulu Buse as his replacement, according to decrees broadcast on state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

The decrees provided no explanation for Gola’s removal from the restive region.

In a separate decree, Kiir also dismissed Gabriel Isaac Awou as undersecretary of the national ministry of justice, naming Mary James Ajith Awol as his successor.

Additionally, the president relieved David Subek of his duties as Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), appointing John Wojo to fill the position.

Further changes included the removal of Amer Majak as undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Museum, and National Heritage. Malok Majok Malok was appointed as her replacement.

Kiir also dismissed Kon John Akot, the Director-General of the Petroleum, Exploration, and Production Authority at the Ministry of Petroleum, and appointed Lual Chol Dak to the role.

No reasons were given for the dismissals. The decrees cited the president’s constitutional powers under South Sudan’s Transitional Constitution of 2011, as amended.
