JUBA, JULY 4, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday received four bills delivered to him by the speaker of the transitional parliament Jemma Nubu Kumba and is expected to assent the bills into law.

“The Speaker of Parliament Jemma Nunu Kumba on Monday delivered four Bills to President Kiir for final endorsement,” said a statement from the presidency following the delivery of the bills to the president.

According to the statement seen by Sudans Post, the bills are the National Archive and Record Management Bill 2023, National Public Health Institute Bill 2023, and the Convention on Cluster Munitions Bill 2023.

The archive bill establishes a national archive and record management system for the country and will be responsible for collecting, preserving, and managing government records, while the health bill establishes a national public health institute responsible for promoting public health.

The Convention on Cluster Management is an international convention that aims to prevent and mitigate the impact of cluster munitions.

The Convention on Cluster Munitions is an international treaty that prohibits all use, transfer, production, and stockpiling of cluster bombs, a type of explosive weapon which scatters submunitions over an area.
