JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir has dismissed the country’s foreign minister, James Pitia Morgan, appointing him instead as the country’s envoy to the Great Lakes Region.
This decision, announced on the state-own South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), comes amidst a series of changes in the leadership of the foreign ministry.
Ramadan Abdala Goc, the former deputy foreign minister, has been appointed as the substantive Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in place of Morgan.
Morgan, who assumed the role of foreign minister in August 2023, previously served as South Sudanese Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union.
Kiir also appointed former South Sudan Ambassador to China, Monday Semaya Kumba, as the new deputy foreign minister.
In another key appointment, John Samuel Bwogo has been designated as the undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Mayen Dut Anyakdit, who has been reassigned as South Sudan’s ambassador to China.
Bwogo, prior to his new role, served as South Sudan’s envoy to Saudi Arabia.
Kiir did not give reason for these personnel changes, consistent with his customary approach.
well, the changes with no reasons are always backed up by the driven agents that are very far from the government. It came to me, experiencing Goch long time ago during Sudanese politic and at the level of the Sudanese universities. To me, I have no say in concern to Goch but there is a kind of discriminative nature that am seeing away from here, Goch appointment will be better if the recommendation came from the same ideology of the real Splm that I know. My argument was not divisive but it seems that the way Goch approaches that position was not a joking subject. The foreign mission I know should always advocates for the country image outside and should teaches the outside people on how the goodness of their country is. Still am going to consults his close ally and people like Cde Malong Majok Your as to whether the guy is still available on the line or might have been turns away by wrong ideologies that are trying to dismantle the current South Sudan`s policy and it’s own image.
I abstain Abit from his recognition on my side until I research more about him, though I know him personally.
