JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed state governments officials for the country’s Northern Bahr el Ghazal, Warrap and oil-rich Unity states, according to a decree read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation(SSBC).
The presidential action which appointed state ministers, gubernatorial advisors and heads of state commissions comes exactly two days after the president appointed state constitutional post holders for Central Equatoria state.
These developments have been welcomed by the international community, the region which played key role in the signing of the revitalized peace agreement and peace guarantors such as Sudan and Uganda.
The Troika countries this afternoon marking the first anniversary of the formation of the revitalized peace agreement urged the parties to recommit themselves to the full and thorough implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
This also comes at a crucial time, when UN warned that lack of governments at the states’ levels was creating power vacuum and was fueling sub national violence that is threatening another war in the world’s youngest country.
