JUBA — South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this morning left the capital Juba heading to the capital of the United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi, days after death of the late UAE President Sheikh Khalifa.
In a statement, the presidency said the South Sudanese head of state will join other world and regional leaders in paying tribute to the late president.
“His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan has this morning (Monday, 16th May 2022), left Juba for Abu Dhabi to join world leaders in paying tribute to the late UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” the presidency said.
The statement said that Kiir will “offer his condolences to the new elected President of UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the family and the entire people of the United Arab Emirates.”
