JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has met on Tuesday in his office with the speaker of the Kenyan National Assembly, Kenneth Otiato Marende, in a meeting also attended by South Sudan’s parliament speaker Ubuch Ujwok Akuoc.
According to a statement by the presidency, the two men discussed important regional issues and integration in respect to political and trade issues in the region.
“Tuesday 27th April 2021- His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with the Speaker of Transitional National Legislative Assembly Rt. Hon. Ubuch Ujwok Akuoc, Former Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya Rt. Hon. Kenneth Otiato Marende and Amb. Albino Aboug of Pan-Africa Youth Union,” the presidency statement said.
“The meeting discussed issues of regional integration that would widen and deepen trade and political cohesion in Africa,” the statement seen by Sudans Post added.
In statement to the media following the meeting, speaker of the TNLA Ubuch Ujwok said the meeting “looked at the ways to open up business opportunities and cooperation between South Sudan with the rest of African Countries.”
For his part, Marende said the important high-level meeting “also concentrated on the Integration to solidify the commitment for global market with the value of productivity.”
