Kiir, Machar agree to reconstitute parliament this week

Kiir-Machar meeting also resolved to complete the process for graduation of necessary unified forces very soon.

JUBA – South Sudan presidency on Thursday said President Salva Kiir and his first deputy Dr. Ariel Machar Teny agreed to form the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly and the Council of States this week.

This came in a meeting held on Monday between Kiir and Machar at State House J1.

The meeting also resolved to complete the process for graduation of necessary unified forces very soon.

In a press statement extended to Sudans Post on Thursday, Goanar Gordon Yien, Deputy Press Secretary in the office of the First Vice President, Dr. Machar, said the two principals discussed the implementation of the peace deal.

“The meeting focused on reconstitution of Transitional National Legislature Assembly (TNLA) establishment of State Assemblies in ten states, graduation of necessary unified forces,” Gordon said.

Yien said the Presidency agreed to resolve the remaining tasks this week.

“They also discussed allocation of commission at national level to fully complete the formation of the government. They agreed that these remaining issues are to be resolved this week,” he said.
