BREAKING | Kiir-Machar meeting ends with no prospect for Angelina Teny’s return

JUBA, MARCH 10, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – The meeting between President Salva Kiir Mayardit and First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has just ended with no positive outcome for the main armed opposition SPLM-IO as prospects for Angelina Teny’s return were ruled out by the president.

The meeting between Kiir and Machar begun at 10:00AM, an official allied to Machar said, and that the meeting has ended and that the two men are currently at the weekly cabinet meeting and the main armed opposition group will update the public about the meeting after the meeting.

“The meeting has just ended, and we are not going to update you right now because the principles are in the council of ministers meeting. After the meeting, the SPLM-IO will issue a statement to update the public about the meeting,” the official told Sudans Post at 1:17PM Juba local time.

In an exclusive statement to Sudans Post, a presidency official allied to Kiir said the meeting has ended and that President Salva Kiir Mayardit rejected a Machar request for him to re-instate Mrs. Teny as the minister of defense.

“Their request has been rejected and there is no prospect for her to return to the position. She might return to the cabinet in another capacity, but not as a minister of defense,” the official who requested not to be named told Sudans Post.
