JUBA – President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday afternoon meet with former Sudanese vice-president Abel Alier and discussed political situation of the world’s youngest country with the later urging Kiir to achieve peace and stability in the world’s youngest country.
In a statement, the presidency said Kiir and Alier had cordial discussion on the general political situation of the country.
“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit met with a prominent elder and a veteran politician Abel Alier Kwai, and had a cordial conversation on matters to do with the current political situation of the Country,” the presidency said.
“Abel Alier Kwai encouraged President Salva Kiir Mayardit to have the wisdom and continue to administer the Country towards peace, stability and development,” the presidency statement added.
According to the statement, Kiir “promised Abel Alier Kwai that with wisdom from the elders and veteran politicians, he will continue to engage with them and exchange views to lead the Country towards total peace and prosperity.”
Abel Alier Kwai is a prominent politician and judge who served as Vice President of Sudan between 1971 and 1982.
He also served as President of the High Executive Council of the Southern Sudan Autonomous Region between 1972 and 1978.
