JUBA – South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has ordered an immediate investigation into the plane crash which killed seven people following take-off from Juba international airport this morning.

Today, a plane heading to Western Bahr el Ghazal state capital Wau and supposedly to Northern Bahr el Ghazal state capital Aweil crashed a few minutes after taking off from Juba International airport killing almost all on board.

The plane was carrying eight (8) people including two pilots and six passengers. One person has only survived with serious injuries while the other seven including the two captains have died.

Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, a senior government official at the ministry of transport has said that President Kiir has ordered the ministry of transport along with the ministry of interior and National Security Service (NSS) to launch an immediate investigation into the crash.

“The President H.E General Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the ministry of transport and the ministry of interior plus the internal security bureau of the national security service to investigate the crash,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

“The President is not happy because of the continued plane crashes which threaten the life of the people living in all parts of the capital,” the official added.
