Kiir pardons 71 including 36 death-row inmates

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday night pardoned at least 71 inmates including 36 who were on death row.

JUBA, FEBRUARY 5th 2023 (SUDANS POST) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday night pardoned at least 71 inmates including 36 who were on death row.

According to the presidential decree readout on the state-own South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), the inmates who were pardoned include 35 who failed to pay compensation or fines.

The pardon was issued just hours after Pope Francis arrived in the country. Below is the list of the inmates who were pardoned.
