Kiir returns home from Uganda

The president was welcomed at Juba airport by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and other senior government officials.

JUBA – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this morning returned to the capital Juba from neighboring Ugandan where he attended a regional summit on migration and climate change, according to a statement by the presidency.

The three-day Regional Inter-Ministerial Conference on Migration, Environment and Climate Change seeks to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation on human mobility.

“His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan and his accompanying delegation returned home from Kampala, Uganda,” South Sudan presidency said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.

“The President was in Uganda for the Regional Inter-Ministerial Conference on migration, environment and climate change,” the statement added.

The president was welcomed at Juba airport by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and other senior government officials.
