Kiir sacks Nilepet chief, names replacement

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday night issued a republican decree dismissing the managing director of state-oil firm Nilepet Dr. Chol Deng Thon, appointing a new official as a replacement.

JUBA, JAN. 13th 2023 (SUDANS POST) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued republican decree relieving Managing Director of Nile Petroleum, Dr. Chol Deng and replaced him with Eng. Bernard Amuor Makeny.The decree read on state-owned TV, South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, SSBC, on Friday evening did not cite any reason behind sacking of Dr. Chol.Dr. Chol was reappointed in October 2021 as Managing Director of Nilepet for second time.

Makeny had served as training and development Manager at SUDD Petroleum Operating company Limited, from June 2021- to date of his appointment.

Makeny also worked as Project Diamond Manager at Dar Petroleum Operating Company and China National Petroleum cooperation-CNPC, NILEPET from Jan 2016- to October 2019.

He served as Senior Systems Engineer at Dar Petroleum from May, 1st 2012 to December 31st 2015 .

He worked at Sudan National Police Service and Ministry of Interior Government of South Sudan- ICT Strategic advisor, Consultant through GIZ German Cooperation Funding from 2013-2016.

    they are all both capable to that position.. it’s just a matter of testing all human mind with he / she can overcome this worse situation we are in
