JUBA — South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this evening sacked the undersecretary in the ministry of petroleum Awow Daniel Chuang.

Kiir made the changes in a decree readout on the state-own South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

In a separate decree, President Kiir named Mayen Wol, who was previously in the position until 2015, as the new undersecretary.

In yet another decree, Kiir appointed Awow as technical advisor in the ministry of petroleum.

The decree did not cite reasons for the changes and the South Sudanese head of state used his powers provided for in the transitional constitution along with the revitalized peace agreement.

Awou was previously the minister of petroleum until the formation of the transitional government of national unity.

He was sacked to be replaced by Puot Kang Chuol of the SPLM-IO before he was appointed, once again, as the undersecretary in the ministry.
